Yes, the &quot;association&quot; was purely a brilliant marketing ploy. I don&#039;t remember if I wrote the specifics in the blog but there was a very tenuous connection. The Post was published in the same building where the defunct Gazette had been, of course long after Franklin&#039;s death.  

One of the countless historical myths that include Washington chopping down a cherry tree and Marie Antoinette&#039;s &quot;let them eat cake&quot;.
